FAQ

Q: Can I rent a unit?

A: Yes, please contact Protec for rental inquires.

Q: I would like to see the unit in practice before purchasing how can I do that?

A: Feel free to contact us, we can schedule a demonstration for you.

Q: When should i send in my unit for resourcing?

A: A unit should be resourced once every 15-18 months, you can set up an appointment in advance to accommodate your schedule. If a unit is not resourced within 15-18, it may lead to internal issues as well as expensive repairs.

Q: When should i send in my unit for repair?

A: If your issue is not resolved after talking to Protec staff it may need to be sent in for repair. Do not attempt to repair the unit yourself as it may damage the unit further. If a unit has not been resourced with 15-18 months it must be resourced before repair.

Q: My unit is not downloading to the computer, how do I resolve this issue?

A: Make sure all cables are connected properly, make sure unit is in data transfer mode. Lastly reinstall RGS. If issue still persists contact us.

Q: My unit is reading NOT FLAT, how can I remedy this issue?

A: Is the surface dark or textured, place a white sheet of paper between the LPA-1 and the surface and try taking the reading again. If the issue persists use a can of compressed air to remove any particles that may have gotten into the unit. Never try to clean the openings on the nose of the LPA-1 with a small object as this can cause damage to the unit.

Q: My unit is reading READY IM and the INCL light is on, what does this mean and how do I change it back to showing READY?

A: If the display reads READY IM and the Yellow INCL light is illuminated the instrument is in PDR mode (Interactive mode). To exit READY IM, press and hold the SELECT MODE button, until the display reads ENABLE PDA IM. When display reads ENABLE PDA IM click SELECT MODE again, the display will read DISABLE PDA IM. Press SET. The unit should now read READY when the trigger is pulled.

Q: My unit is showing MEMORY FULL, what does this mean and how can I correct it?

A: MEMORY FULL implies that the unit has reached its capacity of readings. The unit must be reset in order to take any new readings. Make sure to download all jobs on the unit before reset, otherwise the jobs will be erased.

Q: My unit is showing TEMPERATURE, What does this mean and how can i correct it?

A: A TEMPERATURE message can be caused by many external factors. Typically, it is caused due to the instrument being operated in temperatures outside of optimal range(40-80 degrees Fahrenheit). A simple remedy is to equalize the unit temperature by applying a heat pack or a cold pack depending on the temperature where the instrument is operating. If it is cold apply a heat pack and if it warm apply a cold pack.
